About Us
The Baptist Union of Victoria (BUV) is an umbrella organisation for over 200 Baptist churches in Victoria.
The BUV is dedicated to spreading the message of God and the love of Jesus throughout the community.
The BUV is a part of the Baptist Union of Australia, which coordinates a national approach to global mission, aid, development and evangelism. It is also affiliated with the Baptist World Alliance.
The BUV emphasises two main areas – pastoral support and centralisation of administrative services. On one hand it assists churches with missional endeavours and hosts conferences, as well as guides the ordination process and provides resources for pastoral staff. On another level it centralises administration services, for example, providing support and information on legislation, as well as providing synergy for the networking of churches and their leaders.
From ‘duty of care’ issues, to buying and selling property, to insurance matters, the BUV manages and assists many endeavours.
The BUV regional ministers support many different and disparate communities throughout Victoria, including metropolitan and regional areas.
The BUV is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the word of God. The Baptist Churches are actively engaged in Mission. They assist in planning new churches as well as provide financial assistance.
This involves the BUV hosting training programs with accompanying manuals and CDs of resources, in order to provide accessible and creative ways to enable congregations and small groups to (among other things) respond to differences in ways that build community and explore covenants for a healthy life together.
