Sometimes leaders are aware they want something more than just a once-off seminar but not something as formal or intensive as an accredited college course.
BUVLeadership Training is pioneering some missional 'coaching clinics’ to address this need and help coach leaders or ministers to transform their communities.
The key features of these clinics are:
- a small group of key leaders or ministers (5-15)
- meeting together regularly (e.g., once per month over a series of months)
- grappling with particular issues in ministry
- getting input from a skilled facilitator and resource-person
- supporting one another and sharing stories and challenges from different ministry contexts
- sharing a meal or coffee together.
There may be three clinics on offer in the second half of 2008:
- Children and Families' Ministry with Sue Bluett sue.bluett@buv.com.au, starting July 2008.
- Community development and the local church
- A third one depending on people’s interests.
Other missional coaching clinics that may run over coming years might include some of these topics:
- children’s ministry
- leading change
- leading through growth barriers
- community engagement and outreach
- transitioning to a small groupbased church
- serving local schools
- church planting
- using ‘Fit4Life’ or ‘Out of theBox’.
- conflict resolution
- managing a building andstewardship program
- effective teams and working witha senior pastor/ associate pastor
- fostering holistic spiritualitywith different streams (charismatic, social justice and evangelical spirituality).
