Northreach

What Is Northreach?

Northreach is part of the Baptist Union of Australia's mission and support ministry and is specifically focused on 40 of the most remote churches of WA, NT and Queensland.

Which Churches Does It Support?

In WA it supports the 9 churches extending from Carnarvon to Kununurra including the indigenous church community at Newman. It supports all the 10 churches in the NT from Darwin to Alice Springs including 4 indigenous church Walpiri communities in Central Australia In Queensland it supports 20 churches streching from Mundubbera to Cooktown and Longreach to Mt Isa.

What Is The Mission Of Northreach?

In conjunction with the State Unions of WA, NT & Queensland to:

1. Plant new churches and nurture existing Baptist churches in it's area. (at present a new church is being planted in Darwin)

2. Provide pastoral care for pastoral couples and for church congregations in time of difficulty.

3. Provide a Remote Churches Conference for pastoral couples and laypeople each 3 years.

4. Offer guidance for churches in times of pastoral transition including provison of interim pastors if needed.

5. Assist churches financially through the provison of money to State Unions for support of their pastors.

6. Assist pastoral couples with an annual gift and to provide subsidies for pastoral couples to attend the Remote Churches Conference.

7. To keep Australian Baptists well informed of the ministry of the remote churches and Northreach so they can provide prayer and financial support for this ministry. This is done primarily through the Northreach News magazine and through the ministry of the Director of Crossover Australia.

8. Provide gifted people to travel to the remote churches and pastors so they are encouraged and equipped to do their ministry well.
