Recent articles from the Witness – the monthly magazine of the BUV

The Witness is a Victorian Baptist Churches Magazine that voices discussions of the life and culture of Baptist churches in Victoria.

The Witness maintains a partnership with the Victorian Baptist churches through the communication of local church news and stories which illuminate the positive, meaningful moments and events within the Baptist community in Victoria.

The Witness also threads together stories from the wider body of churches and global issues within Victoria and the international church. It is a vehicle that facilitates the Baptist Union of Victoria’s objectives to "share the love of Jesus with everyone".

1. "From the Margins to the Cross" by Keralie Smith:  The Witness caught up with Tri Nguyen to hear about his experiences with marginalised people; and his desire for all to respond to the invitation of God's love.

2. "Created, Creating, Creative People" by Rev Gordon Wild:  In the warming scent of a waking newborn; in the failing grasp of a passing parent, and all points between: people take us to the centre and to the edge of our 'selves'. For these reasons and more we pause to reflect on the place of people in our days.

Life is both science and art; it is for understanding and appreciating. So these thoughts are in three parts. First, people are created, carrying God's image in us. Second, we continue 'creating', pursuing the science of life. Third, we are creative, embracing the art of life.

3. "Ordinand Series Part 1": It is no small thing to step up to being responsible for the spiritual oversight of the believers. To guide and journey with them; to teach, train and rebuke; to build up and exhort; to be an example to the Body of Christ. In fact, it just might be the most important job/calling on earth... That's why we're briinging you this special series on the Ordinands for 2007. In this edition: David Hodgens from Warrnambool and District Baptist Church and Glen Munday from Lifeway Christian Church.

4. "Who Inspires You?":  A look at eight different people, from different walks of life, and the people who inspire them.

We have all been created in the image of God, and we were all made to do good works for Him. In this edition of the Witness we embark on a journey of discovering who our neighbours are. We journey into the pews and get to know our brothers and sisters in Christ, and find inspiration through those who are making a difference by living their lives in Jesus' reflection.
