Vision

Through the uniqueness of Camping, we create opportunities to enable people to grow, to form community and experience God.

Values

We value the nurturing of relationships and the building of community:

Enabling safe and respectful relationships to grow;
Breaking down social, economic and class barriers;
Promoting belonging and opposing isolation;
Offering time for people to listen to one another;

We value the presenting of Christ:

Through hospitality, service and community;
Through natural beauty, silence and reflection;
Through teaching and worship;
Through the modelling of loving relationships.

We value time-out in the midst of busy lifestyles:

For rest, creation and relationships;
For playing, worshiping, singing, and leaning together;
For being with God, seeing life differently, hearing gods voice and experiencing the presence of Christ;

We value human growth and the building of

life skills:

Through adventure and the opportunity to try new activities;
Through allowing people to stretch their comfort zone and build self-esteem;
Through development of leadership skills;
Through team building and growing cohesiveness for groups;

We value facilities which:

Invite rest, recreation, and a sense of beauty and wonder;
Are very flexible in their ability to meet the diverse needs of people and groups;
Provide safe and creative places for children;
Are welcoming to families;
Are consistent with an invitation to fullness of life in Christ;
Are as financially accessible as possible, with a bias toward low cost camping.

We value Christian service:

Providing space for respite for parents and carers;
Promoting a lifestyle that features participation, contribution and responsibility;
Inviting nurture and healing;
Communicating the love of Christ;

We value the church of Jesus Christ and our links to the Baptist family of churches:

Committing ourselves to provide environments for camps, retreats, conferences for the benefit of churches;
Seeking to participate in the life of the Baptist Union of Victoria, articulating our vision and supporting the BUV’s direction;
Supporting the emphasis on the missional renewing of the church;

Pathways from Issues,
Vision & Values to Goals

Facilities

We will seek to develop our facilities to become flexible, hospitable, safe & welcoming, and reflecting the beauty of their natural environment.

Activities

We will seek to develop the activity base of our campsite, so that they provide opportunities for rest, prayer and adventure that are in keeping with the natural environment and ambience of each campsite.

Mission

We will seek to contribute to the mission of the gospel of Christ through providing appropriate camping opportunities for children, youth, families, schools and others.

Promotion

We will develop our advocacy of camping and the promotion of all our sites to BUV, Churches, agencies etc in a progressive way.

Financing

We will explore ways of continuing to finance camping ministry so as to provide quality camping without excessive cost.

Coordination

We will continue to develop greater cohesion between our 4 campsites through sharing of resources, developing communication and mutual support.

Staff Development

We will develop opportunities for training of staff and volunteers so that people called to camping ministry are well resourced and supported
