What is Church Planting? Who is it aimed at, and what does it do?Every local church is initially conceived in someone's dreams, and then - following a gestation period - birthed when various people gather to facilitate evangelism, discipleship, community and worship in a local setting. Evangelism comes first, because the New Testament pattern was for people who became disciples of Jesus to gather together as the church. Church planting is perhaps the most effective form of evangelism and aims to disciple people in ways that are relevant and appropriate for their local community. This focus on the local community, within the context of serious reflection on a theology and practice of mission, ought to result in a variety of church models (1 Cor 9:19-23). Our VisionOur dream is that new churches will emerge in a variety of shapes and sizes, that their forms and functions will be influenced by Biblical values and the needs of the community, and that they will be led by ordinary people who have faith in an extraordinary God and seek first His Kingdom. Get Involved! We need churches to be planted right across our State, so geography is not a determining factor. Additionally, you don't need ordination or a theological degree to be involved in church planting. David Chatelier, our New Churches Coordinator loves to walk beside people and help assess suitability and pathways to church planting. Contact details:David Chatelier
What can David do for you?As New Churches Coordinator, David recruits church planters and supports, resources and trains those people and churches who have a vision for planting new churches. He also assists with strategising where and how to plant new churches that facilitate effective mission. We suspect that there are many individuals, churches and pastors who would like to be involved in church planting, but don't know where to begin; David would love to assist them on that journey and help their vision become reality. |
