WORKSHOPS - AM and PM

The workshops are designed to equip you immediately in service and ministry. We encourage you to bring a team of women from your church to participate in the full range of workshops, and to share the workshop resources with one other.

Embrace public speaking – Sally Agostino (double workshop)

Would you like to be able to give devotions, short talks or longer presentations/sermons with flair and excellence? This workshop will empower you to prepare and deliver presentations that engage attention and speak to the heart. Sally works at Plenty Valley Christian College in Community Development and is a member of Diamond Valley Baptist Church. She has a passion for the bible and for preaching God’s word.

Embrace your spiritual gifts – Michelle Sanders (double workshop)

Do you know your spiritual gifts? Michelle will help you reflect on the unique way God has designed you, and develop a plan to exercise your gifts to serve others in ministry. Michelle Sanders developed the “Stepps to Ministry” program, which has been purchased and implemented by many churches from different denominations both nationally and internationally. Michelle has worked at the Teen Challenge Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centre, in a senior role on staff at the Winepress in Berwick, and has recently planted an alternative style church called Kaleidoscope.

Embrace coaching – Debbie Lapthorne (double workshop)

If you have a heart for developing and empowering Christian Leaders, this workshop is for you! Coaching training will give you a powerful set of skills, which can help you help others - by identifying possibilities for growth, clarifying and defining goals and objectives, and developing practical steps for achieving these goals. This workshop will give you skills to begin coaching others immediately!  Debbie Lapthorne is a qualified counsellor and life coach, whose life passion is equipping others.

Embrace biblical equality – Dr Kevin Giles (single workshop, am)

What is the biblical ideal in relation to the man-woman relationship in marriage? Is there a specific role for women in the church? This workshop will explore the biblical themes and "difficult" texts in relation to women. Kevin is a retired Anglican minister, biblical scholar and teacher who has published widely on what the Bible teaches on men and women.

Embrace balance – Bronwyn Checkley (single workshop, pm)

How do we find the balance between self-care and service? How do we find the balance between being (getting in touch with your authentic self and with the Holy Spirit within) and doing (using our gifts and talents to serve others?) This workshop will involve a mixture of reflection, discussion, input and contemplation to help you identify where your life might be out of balance, and develop a plan to move forward in a more healthy and sustainable fashion. Bronwyn is a spiritual director who has also completed an MA in Creative and Experiential Art Therapies.

Opportunity to embrace giving

An offering to support women in Vietnam will be collected on the day.
