Safe Church Training

Safe Church Training

We are excited to announce a new Safe Church training partnership with the Baptist Association of NSW & ACT. Creating Safe Spaces will replace the previous six-hour Safe Church Awareness and Refresher Workshops.

Creating Safe Spaces (CSS) will significantly increase the accessibility of our Safe Church training. CSS training requires participants to complete an online individual training module (in one’s own time) and then attend a three-hour workshop.  CSS workshops will be conducted via Zoom during COVID restrictions, and via Zoom or in person after restrictions are lifted.

All churches will be given detailed information about the new CSS training prior to the end of the year, including how to access the online training module and book in for workshops. If you have any questions or would like resources related to Safe Church matters please contact Vicky Dyer to discuss.

The Baptist Union of Victoria is committed to ensuring that our churches are safe places, particularly for children, youth and other vulnerable people, by providing training for leaders and volunteers who serve in the church’s various ministries.

1. Helpful E-Safety Resources

With many children spending more time online at present, we have recently included some helpful resources produced by the e-Safety Commission.

2. Online Training from Carl Collins

Carl Collins, Executive Director Child Protection Solutions, has generously made some videos available to Victorian Baptist Church leaders on the important area of Child Protection. The BUV encourages any senior leader, and /or any volunteer working with children or young people, to register for and watch the following training videos.

Please note that these videos are only an introduction prior to CSS training.
