Celebrating 20 years of RAALS
Rev Meewon Yang OAM set up the BUV RAALS scheme – an interest free micro loan scheme to financially assist people who have been granted humanitarian visas but cannot afford the cost of the airfares for themselves and often family members, or cars to assist with gaining employment once in Australia . Often refugees have fled their home countries and have been waiting in refugee camps for many years to be granted visas for their new life. Without assistance for airfares, these visas can expire. This year we are celebrating 20 years of providing RAALS loans with more than 670 loans totalling nearly $550,000 being provided over this period with only 1 defaulted loan. Many refugees are still benefitting from interest free airfare loans to bring family members to Australia and to buy cars to assist with employment.
