We held our 10th Multicultural Pastors Retreat in May at Camp Wilkin with 90 pastors and leaders (including a few guests from Baptist SA!) plus 20 BUV staff and agencies. The cohort represented 54 of our BUV churches.
This has been a space for Pastors from our LOTE churches to rest, network, and to be encouraged in their ministry contexts. There are unique challenges for LOTE communities and the retreat has been a space to be able to wrestle with topics that are most pressing for them. Some topics were, boundaries and rest, journeying with 2nd Gens, contemplative living, resources and advice on property development, and being a bi-vocational pastor.
We also had plenty of opportunities for laughter, sharing, and celebrating. We sang worship songs around the campfire, as well as a cultural celebration night where we shared our various cultural songs, stories, and dress. To end the night, we prayed for our Pastors and leaders who have been affected by the events in Burma and Ukraine.
One pastor commented:
“I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity for fellowship and praise and laughter to share with fellow pastors. I am grateful for the BUV for this open retreat, it is such a blessing!”
