the Verandah Cafe – A place for great coffee and Hope

For close to a decade, Collins Street Baptist Church has hosted the Verandah Cafe, a place of hospitality on the steps of our historic building. As well as serving great coffee, the Verandah offers a verdant place of welcome, rest and conversation with numerous flowers, herbs, and vegetable growing beds occupying the church portico.

More recently CSBC has entered into a partnership with the Baptcare Houses of Hope program. This important work offers housing and support to Asylum seekers at risk of homelessness.  In time, the Cafe will connect with interested asylum seekers who can gain valuable skills and experience in food and beverage service, as well as urban horticulture and gardening.

When visiting the Melbourne CBD you will find a friendly welcome at the Verandah Café, 174 Collins St. The Café is open Monday – Friday (excluding Public Holidays) 10.00am to 2.00pm. The coffee is excellent and the location overlooking Collins St., is quite splendid. Our muffins, slices and cookies are made in our own kitchen.

We look forward to seeing you on The Verandah (or inside the Church) when the weather turns wintery.
