Parish Collective Learning Communities
We are pleased to announce our partnership with the Parish Collective in 2020. Together, we are bringing the Parish Collective Learning Community(PCLC) to you in Melbourne – for the very first time in Australia! The focus of the PCLC is clear … to develop your church or team to be a compelling expression of God’s love and care in your neighbourhood. We will focus on recovering the imagination, practices, and postures required for faithful Christian presence. Through the PCLC, participants will grow as the kind of leaders who guide Jesus Followers into embodiment of Shalom within the uniqueness of our respective communities.
How is it different from other leadership and discipleship programs?
You’ve probably read books or been to seminars that energized you, but didn’t translate into lasting change in your community. Shifting culture requires a very different approach that embeds you in new relational networks, new experiential environments, and new ways of practicing together. Parish Learning Communities catalyse this process through a unique combination of Culture Labs and Fieldwork. This is the basic form of our Learning Communities.
What can I expect?
You will attend three separate Culture Labs over the year. Each Lab is held over three days and represents an intensive learning experience. Between the Culture Labs you will work with others in your context to develop Field Work alongside syllabus readings and practices of faithful presence. All along the way you will be encouraged, supported, and challenged by others in your cohort and a team of Parish guides.
Who runs it?
Paul Sparks and Tim Soerens are the award-winning authors of The New Parish and have done tours and trainings in over 1,000 neighbourhoods across North America, the UK, and Australia. Their research has revealed exciting commonalities between churches that have made the sustained culture-shifts needed for deeper community presence. They help people discover the transformational process that can revive leadership, awaken church, and ignite life giving change in neighbourhoods.
- February 27th, 28th, 29th (Baptist Union Offices)
- July 30th, 31st, August 1st (Neighbourhood Visits)
- November 12th, 13th, 14th (Mill Valley Ranch Retreat)
What does it cost?
This one-year PCLC training usually costs $1000 per person but with this partnership, we are pleased to offer it to you for $360 with further discounts for group registrations. Participants will be responsible for their own food, transport, and accommodation costs.
