The Baptist Union of Victoria recognises that each local church is an autonomous community of disciples, with ultimate authority, under God, residing in the church meeting when members meet together to discern the mind of Christ on all matters related to the work of the church. While the local church is the essential part of the Baptist concept of church, the importance of fellowship between churches has always been emphasised.
The BUV vision is to advance the Kingdom of God by empowering church leaders for mission. The Public Issues pages of the BUV website provide resources to support discussion, education, discernment and response to various public and social issues.
The processes through which the BUV discerns, consults and gathers resources for church leaders on public issues is outlined on the Delegates Dinner, Consultation Forums and BEthos pages of the website.
Please click on the topic menu on the left side of this page to find tools to help discussion, inform awareness, prompt action and enhance connections to empower Baptist Leaders to lead local mission. We are regularly updating the resources and adding new issues so check in regularly!
