2025 Converge Report Back

November 12, 2025

Thanks to those who have participated in our Stand with Myanmar campaign in prayer, raising funds and advocating for the people of Myanmar. The Australian Baptist CONVERGE event was held in Canberra in late October with Baptists from around Australia meeting with Senators and MP’s to ask for specific help for Myanmar. Pastors and leaders of our Victorian Baptist churches from Myanmar were part of the delegation and express their thanks in this video for the opportunity to be involved.

Rev Daniel Bullock thanked the Victorian Baptist team comprised of pastors and leaders from churches from Myanmar, Baptist World Aid Australia, Baptist Mission Australia and BUV Support Hub representatives, who have travelled to Canberra to be available for these few days of meetings. “It was a privilege to be able to be with some of our Myanmar leaders at Canberra this week. We met with various politicians to advocate for some action on some agreed key issues as part of a broader contingent of Baptists (along with BMA and BWA). Our Myanmar people were able to share some impactful stories and as a team of delegates we had many opportunities to present some ‘asks’ that would make a difference for those who are still coping with dire situations in Myanmar. In general the responses were extremely positive. Let’s keep praying for Myanmar and for those who are here needing our support. Our Myanmar leaders are deeply appreciative of the BUV, BMA and BWA for creating the opportunity to do this. Thanks to everyone who helped make it possible.”

Thankyou also to the many Senators and Members of Parliament that took time to meet with Baptists from around Australia this week to talk about the desperate situation in Myanmar. Thanks particularly to The Honorable Mr Tony Zappia MP, Federal Minister for Makin, pictured below, who later in the day delivered a speech to the House of Representatives, bringing the plight of Myanmar to the Houses’ attention.

If you’d like to see the specific asks we made of the government and add your voice, head to standwithmyanmar.com.au/act to send a letter to your local MP.

We’d love you to amplify our voices by sending a letter to your local MP – it’s as easy as going to our ACT page at standwithmyanmar.com.au and adding your name and postcode. You will also find ways to pray and give.
Thankyou to those who have been standing with Myanmar through prayer, raising funds and through advocacy.
