Converge Recap

September 29, 2026

The Baptist Union of Victoria was pleased to join around 30 representatives from Baptist agencies, churches, and leaders from across Australia as part of Converge, a delegation to Parliament raising awareness of Family and Domestic Violence.

The team had over 35 meetings across 3 days, meeting with MPs, Senators and Ministers from across the political spectrum, all of whom were encouraged to hear how the Baptist movement was engaging in this critical issue.

It was a valuable opportunity to acknowledge the great work that many of our churches and agencies are doing to provide pathways of healing and hope, while also recognising the ways we can continue to grow and respond. The aim is to end violence against women and children by 2050. This is a collective challenge and a fearsome responsibility.

We invite you to pray that those with influence will take meaningful action, and that together we can help build a future where all people are safe, supported, and able to flourish.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8–9 (NIV)
