Doreen is the BUV Donor Relations Lead, with a focus on creating, implementing and managing sustainable revenue streams and donor partnerships to uphold BUV’s mission, operations and ministries. She will primarily be handling all donations, including bequests and legacies, and will develop and maintain relationships with donors.

Healthy ministry begins with healthy people. Caring for both body and spirit equips us to serve with wisdom, resilience and grace.

Nourishment

Caring for the Body: Food is fuel and a gift from God. Choosing balanced, life giving foods strengthens our bodies and sustains us for daily responsibilities.

Why it matters: Well nourished bodies have more energy to serve, love, and participate fully in community life.

Nurturing the Spirit:  God’s Word feeds the soul. Scripture shapes our thinking, anchors our identity, and reminds us of God’s faithfulness.

Why it matters: Spiritual nourishment deepens trust in God and sustains us through challenge.

Bible Verse: Matthew 4:4; John 6:35

Exercise

Caring for the Body: Regular movement keeps the body flexible, resilient, and strong. Even gentle activity helps reduce stress and lift mood.

Why it matters: Physical vitality supports longevity in ministry and service.

Nurturing the Spirit: Faith grows through practice. Prayer, worship, service and fellowship stretch and strengthen us spiritually.

Why it matters: Spiritual disciplines build endurance for the long journey of faith.

Bible Verse: Isaiah 40:31

Rest

Caring for the Body: Sleep and rest restore our minds and bodies. Without rest, fatigue and burnout take hold.

Why it matters: Rest enables clarity, patience and emotional balance.

Nurturing the Spirit: God invites us to rest in Him, trusting that we are held by grace rather than driven by effort.

Why it matters: Spiritual rest renews our souls and re‑centres our trust in God

Bible Verse: Psalm 23:2; Matthew 11:28

Emotional & Mental Wellbeing

Caring for the Body: Healthy relationships and intentional downtime help manage stress and protect mental health.

Why it matters:  Emotional wellbeing allows us to respond with compassion rather than reactivity.

Nurturing the Spirit: Prayer and shared burdens within Christian community cultivate peace and resilience.

Why it matters: A grounded mind strengthens faith and hope.

Bible Verse: Philippians 4:6–7; Galatians 6:2

Refreshment

Caring for the Body: Hydration keeps our bodies alert and energised. Small habits, like keeping water nearby, make a big difference.

Why it matters: Caring for simple physical needs supports overall wellbeing.

Nurturing the Spirit: Jesus offers living water that satisfies deepest thirst.

Why it matters:Spiritually refreshed people become life‑giving to others.

Bible Verse: John 4:13–14

Sustainable health grows through daily, faithful habits, both physical and spiritual.
