Nourish – Fuelling for Fruitful Ministry

January 3, 2024

Nourish, a day of encouragement, fellowship and connection was held on Friday 20th October, with 160 pastors gathering together at Essendon Baptist Community Church.

After being welcomed by Rev Jonathan Stark and a rousing worship segment led by an updated ‘BUV’ band, Rev Daniel Bullock introduced the theme of ‘Fuelling for Fruitful Ministry’.

In the first session of the day, three of our BUV Pastors speakers, Mandy Stark, Fred Mugambi and Heather Dunning, delivered ‘’TED” talks on the topic of Me and Ministry – how we can be fueled for ministry in our own lives.

After morning tea, special guests Nicky and Sila Lee, creators of The Marriage Course from Holy Trinity Brompton, addressed the topic We and Ministry – how we can be fueled for ministry in our marriages and how we can support those who are married in our congregations.

A long lunch break always provides a most appreciated time for pastors to catch up with each other.

After lunch, a panel of pastors discussed Us and Ministry – how we can help the people we work alongside so that we can together be fueled for the ministry of our church or community.

Before communion, led by Maranda Ng, attendees were encouraged to spend some time in prayer together for our union, our state, plus our brothers and sisters in war-torn countries.

The day concluded in worship to our God, as we sang together, ‘King of Kings’.
Approximately 80 pastors participated in a Professional Standards Workshop following Nourish on the topic of ‘Our Code for Healthy Pastoral Practice.’
