Finance & Administration
The Finance and Administration Team ensures that BUV assets are well stewarded and managed, and churches and stakeholders receive the support they need to thrive through governance oversight, risk management, property and facility management and HR and legal support.
Financial Management and Strategy
The Finance team oversees the strategic management of the BUV’s financial assets, including investments, properties, and funding sources. The team ensures that BUV’s investments and financial services are managed in accordance with approved policies and guidelines and is tasked ensuring the BUV’s financial sustainability. Key financial management responsibilities include the preparation of the annual budget, financial statements, and reporting to the Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) and Union Council (UC).
BUV Governance support and Compliance Support
The team provides administrative and logistical support to the BUV Union Council to assist Council in performing their governance oversight and responsibilities. The team also looks after BUV compliance and implementation of the BUV Constitution, the BUV Incorporation Act, and relevant government agencies (e.g., ACNC, ATO). The team offer guidance to churches, schools, and agencies regarding these governance matters, including properties and legal matters. The team ensure that managing trust funds and overseeing property transactions are conducted in accordance with legal and governance standards.
Risk Management
The team looks after the BUV Risk Register, which includes the identification of potential risks and putting necessary measures to mitigate risks, manage internal financial control systems to safeguard the Union’s assets and timely and regular reporting to the Audit & Risk Committee and Union Council.
Property and BUV Hub Facility Management
The team oversees the management, maintenance and operation of BUV owned properties including lease management, maintenance, and tenant relationships. This involves ensuring properties are managed in accordance with BUV policies, Schedule B terms and that all required legal and financial documentation is maintained. The team also oversee the administration of fleet vehicles, the upkeep of office facilities and security, the maintenance of records and management of property registers.
Human Resources and IT Oversight
The team plays a role in overseeing the organization’s human resources and IT systems. This includes managing the HR cycle – from hiring to off-boarding staff – ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OH&S) regulations and periodically reviewing the staff structure and organizational culture. The team also ensures the smooth operation of IT systems and communication equipment, working with service providers to maintain security and functionality.
BUV Support Hub operations
The team ensures the smooth running of daily operations within the BUV Support Hub including managing reception, coordination with suppliers. ensuring that meeting rooms and staff areas are properly maintained, assisting with the orientation of new staff, and supporing the coordination of internal staff functions and events.
