  • Ordination

In the Baptist Union of Victoria, ordination celebrates the recognition that a pastoral leader is called by God, gifted and prepared to be recognised as a spiritual leader in church and society.

Such a calling is seen as a sacred trust, privilege and responsibility, and a lot of attention is expended to ensure that the pastor, their local church community and the wider body of the Baptist Union of Victoria are all involved in discerning the person’s call, formation and readiness for ordination.

Whitley College is a key and respected partner with the BUV in the process of training and formation.

Ordination services are usually celebrated once a year as part of the BUV’s October Gathering.

Every year in October, the Baptist Union of Victoria celebrates with Ordination candidates the official completion of their training and formation.

Members of the Ordinands’ family, church and representatives from the BUV and Whitley College are gathered together to mark this significant achievement.
